Vineyards
With chardonnay, cabernet sauvignon, and merlot vineyards planted on the valley floor in the heart of Napa Valley, Bettinelli Vineyards is enhancing vineyard development technology through experimental techniques and vertical integration.
Mike and Larry's "Rutherford Vista" vineyard is a 37- acre parcel located in Rutherford along the Napa River. Approximately twelve acres of merlot, seven acres of chardonnay, and thirteen acres of cabernet sauvignon yield optimum levels of quality fruit. Careful attention is given to each block to insure proper production levels and the most ideal fruit per acre.
The "Lewelling" vineyard is located in southwest St. Helena at the foot of Spring Mountain. The Bettinelli merlot production comes entirely from this single vineyard, from a twelve acre block that produces intense, fruit flavors with small annual yields. Recent experimental inter-planting trials also hold additional promise for this site.
When asked about their vineyard management philosophy, Larry responds, "We grew up with this land and love farming. By combining our sense of the soil with the latest technology, we're always looking for a better way to do things."
"We constantly strive to deliver the best," says Larry. "We started our own label in order to become more aware of all aspects involved in the winemaking process, and to understand the challenges a winery faces in the market today. This increased knowledge, will allow us continue to grow better grapes and produce outstanding wines that reflect our commitment to excellence."
